Wilma Tyson

Wilma L. Walker Tyson, 79, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully.

Born on July 29, 1946, in Clearwater, Florida, Wilma was the daughter of the late Marlie and Ludell Walker. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Bennie J. Tyson, and her brother, Melvin Walker.

Wilma is survived by her loving children: her son, Jody Tyson (April) of Macon; and daughters, Melanie Sherese Brown (Kevin) of Macon and Heather Flores (PJ) of Jesup. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Walker (Nancy) of Macon, and her sister, Beverly Clanton of Macon.

Wilma was a proud and devoted grandmother to Melissa Sams (Kevin), K. Andrew Joseph Brown (Jennifer), Kaitlyn Yeager (Brian), Kallie Brown-Binner (Jacob), Bailey Bennett (Tristen), Tanner Tyson (Katrina), Braxton Flores (Maddie), Breighton Flores, and Briley Claire Flores. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Carsen Sams, Abby Brown, Camdin Sams, Ashlynn Sams, Mackenzie Brown, Eliese Yeager, and Josie Mae Tyson.

Though small in stature, Wilma's presence was powerful and unforgettable. A devoted mother, entrepreneur, and woman of deep faith, she lived her life with purpose, passion, and joy.

Wilma was known for her strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. As the proud owner of Tyson Enterprises in Macon, Georgia, she poured her heart into her business while always putting her family first. She was a lifelong member of Vickers Holiness Baptist Church. Wilma's faith grew during her foundational years at Northside Assembly of God in Macon, Georgia, where she embraced the teachings of Scripture and the support of a loving church family. She spent her last years worshipping at True Vision Church in Forsyth, Georgia. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life and a guiding light to all who knew her.

Known for her love of travel, deep devotion to her family, unmatched skill in shopping, fabulous sense of humor, and unique charm, Wilma will be remembered for her loyalty, grace, strength, compassion, and loving spirit. Her legacy of faith and family will continue to inspire generations to come.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lovein Funeral Home, with Reverend Jerry Hewatt officiating. Burial will follow in The Vickers Church Cemetery in Enigma, Georgia. Visitation will be held in Macon on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services. An additional visitation in Nashville, Georgia, will take place one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, August 15.

Wilma's life was a gift to her family and community, and she will be deeply missed.
