Walter Milton DeFore, Jr. "Sonny", 70, of Byron, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, July 25, 2021. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at FairHaven Funeral Home. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Reverend Butch Mullis officiating. Entombment will be immediately following in the Mausoleum at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family asks that attire be business casual and to wear the color blue in place of the traditional black to pay tribute to Sonny's favorite color.
Sonny was born on September 5, 1950 in Macon to the late Walter Milton DeFore, Sr. and Grace Killebrew DeFore. He was a Millwright by trade, faithfully working for 46 years at the mill as it changed names from Georgia Craft, Macon Craft, Riverwood, and finally Graphic Packaging. He was also a member of the Union and a mechanic. His greatest joy in life came from his family.
Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, Linda Pollard DeFore (Lynn). Children; Keri Thomas, Matthew DeFore. Grandchildren; Brittany Jackson, Taylor McDaniel (Jason), Tori Thomas (Dakota), Jordan Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Brooklyn Owens, and Haley DeFore. Great Grandchildren; Nathan Jackson, Jude Patton, and Bellamy McDaniel.
