She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Donald Earl Pierce, and their sons Michael Earl Pierce and Allan Craig Pierce, her brothers Emerald Eugene Wells, Edward Franklin Wells, Jesse Ronald Wells, and James Donald Wells.

Virginia was born in Crisp county Ga. and attended Franklin school and later West Crisp High School where she was on the varsity basketball team.
After graduation she moved to Atlanta and was employed in the defense industry. She later moved to Portland, Oregon where she met and married Donald Pierce. Don's job with Pacific Power Corporation required multiple relocations in several western states where Virginia was employed by the US Bureau of Land Management.
Virginia and Don were very active in civic and religious activities. While Don served as Mayor of Yreka, Ca, Virginia was very active in her chapter of P.E.O. International and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, serving as president of each.
If Virginia wasn't outdoors getting exercise or gardening, she was indoors sewing, knitting, or preparing to throw a dinner party. She and Don were avid skiers, golfers and campers. After Don's retirement, they traveled extensively with the Alpenlite Travel Club and later settled in Medford, Oregon. Virginia once said that she and Don "went everywhere and did everything they ever wanted to do."
Virginia moved to Macon, Georgia in September 2014 to be with her remaining family after losing Don.
A Celebration of Virginia's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at Friendship Baptist Church in Pineview, GA. Visitation with family and friends will be at 2:00.
Virginia will be interred in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden in Medford, Oregon beside Don and their sons.
