Tommy Dorsey, 61, of Lizella, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, August 8, 2021. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, and Friday August 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Lizella Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Lizella Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Parsons and Reverend Chris Minton officiating. Immediately following the service, Tommy will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
Tommy was born on July 8, 1960 in Killeen, Texas to the late Jessie R. Dorsey, Sr. and Edna Hegwood Dorsey. Tommy began a lengthy and impressive career with MARTA at the age of 17. He began washing buses and through hard work, he worked his way up to a Rail Car Maintenance Superintendent. After retirement from MARTA, Tommy began working at FairHaven Funeral Home, where he took great pride in his work, and went above and beyond what was always asked of him. He was a strong willed man, who always stood up for what he believed in and wouldn't mind speaking his mind, but would give you the shirt off his back. He was a member of Lizella Baptist Church, and in his younger years, enjoyed being on the lake with his wife Kimberly. Tommy was by far his happiest when he was with his family, especially his grandbabies, they were the light of his life.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sibling; Jessie R. Dorsey, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Kimberly Sanders Dorsey. Children; Shea Dorsey and Amanda Leigh Greene, Ashleigh Tafel and Austin McCooley. Grandchildren; Riley Scott Dorsey, Teagan Leigh Greene, Jason Nathaniel Greene, Silas William Tafel and Levi Maverick Tafel. Siblings; Donavan Dorsey (Kristie) and Vivian Dorsey Massey.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations please be made in Tommy's name, to New Hope Ministry at Lizella Baptist Church, 2950 South Lizella Rd, Lizella, GA 31052.
