Tilda Ann "Big Mama" Wester Wilson, 84, of Byron, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. A graveside celebration of Ms. Wilson's life will be held on Friday, October 29, at 2:30 PM in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with her grandson, Pastor, Luke O'Connor officiating.
Ms. Wilson was born on June 14, 1937, in Louisburg, North Carolina, to the late George Dewey Wester and Martha Elizabeth Wester. She was a longtime member of Saint's Delight Freewill Baptist Church and most recently attended Life Church. Ms. Wilson was the valedictorian of her graduating class in 1955 at Edward Best Highschool in Louisburg, North Carolina. She was a peacekeeper and defender that always put the needs of others first. Ms. Wilson was a beautiful and gracious lady that had a true servant's heart. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Affectionately known as "Big Mama," she will be missed by all that loved and knew her.
Ms. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Howell Wilson, Sr., sons, Donald Howell Wilson, Jr. "Buddy" and Rock Carlton Wilson "Rocky;" grandson, Robert Wilson; sisters, Era Jewel Wester Butler and Martha Lucille Wester Partin; brothers, Haywood Wiston Wester and James Archibald Wester; and daughter-in-law, Tonya Michelle Smith Wilson.
Ms. Wilson is survived by her daughter, Donna Wilson Eidson (Billy); son, George Douglas Wilson; daughter-in-law, Teresa Wilson; grandchildren, B.J. (Erin), Casey (Lisa), Ashley, Angel, Roxy (Lucas), Diane (Jim), Luke (Mandi), Joe, LeAnna, Hanna, Marshall (Ksenia), Jeanna (Rick), Stephany (Cole), and Samantha (David); great-grandchildren, Halle', Keylee, Kiersten, Masey, C.J., Willow, Wade, Jaylynn, D.J., Nevaeh, Shelby, Gavin, Rena, Nicholas, Michael, Skylar, Addie, Ryleigh, Ethan, Izzie, Lincoln, and Finnley; great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Anthony, Jr., and Blakely; sister, Brenda Diane Lea (James Earl Simpson); and several nieces and nephews.
