Thomas was born in Athens, Georgia on July 23, 1950, to the late Mr. James McCannon and Mrs. Evelyna Porterfield. Thomas, a man whose passing has left a deep void, was known for his love of the simple joys in life. He found peace in fishing and spending time outdoors, always enjoying activities like cutting his grass and visiting yard sales. A frequent traveler to Lowe's, he took pride in his crafts and his family. Thomas had a playful side, often referring to his favorite music as "bop bops," which filled his house with warmth. Above all, he was incredibly proud of his grandson Kaleb for making the decision to join the Marines, a source of immense joy and pride for him. Surrounded by family, Thomas lived a happy, fulfilling life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jason McCannon.
