Thomas Horton

Thomas E. Horton, 81, of Lizella, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, November 11, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at 1:00 PM at Thomaston Road Church of Christ. Immediately following, Thomas will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.

Thomas was born on January 9, 1941, in Valdosta, Georgia, to the late Mary and Pete Horton. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. Thomas started his successful construction company and worked until he fell ill. He dedicated his life to taking care of his wife, children, and grandchildren. Thomas could be found tending to his garden or building or fixing something. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Julie Bass.

Thomas will forever be cherished by his wife of 49 years, LaVerne Horton; sister, Sara (Joe) Stanley; children, Scott (Connie) Vaughan, Brenda Potts, Sandy (Doug) Watson, Stephanie (Deion) Bell, Claudia Vaughan; grandchildren, Brandie (Richie) Ward, Tammy (Scott) Cleams, Tiffany Gonzales, and Robbie Potts; four great-grandchildren; and many friends.
