Sylvia Preston

Sylvia Waters Preston, 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on February 10, 2020. She was born to Herman and Marjorie Waters on April 28, 1945 in Columbia, SC. She married Jerry Thompson in her youth and had three children.

Sylvia worked various jobs throughout her life, Happ Brother's as a seamstress, Huddle House, Cracker Barrel, management of Waffle House and eventually ended up in Life Insurance sales and service with Woodman of the World, Mutual of Omaha and finally with American General.

She was a wonderful cook, she loved to read, a great seamstress, a master at crochet and a Bible scholar. She was a member of Parkway Assembly of God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Preston. Her survivors include her brother, Herman Waters of Lizella, GA, her children Wendell Thompson of Pensacola, FL, Treena (Kendall) Hutcheson of Roberta, Ga, Joel Thompson of Byron, Ga, grandchildren: Katelyn Thompson Boyd, Breanna Thompson Gaines, Zachary Thompson, Arianna Hutcheson, Leah Hutcheson, Chelsea Thompson, Lacie Thompson, and many much loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Friday Feb. 21, 2020 at 5pm at FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd, Macon, GA which will be officiated by Pastor Joe E. Williams.
