Susan is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 38 years, Rick Godfrey, Sr.; son, Chad Godfrey; parents, William "Bill" and Pat Bilow; infant brother, Butchie Bilow; brothers, William "Billy" Bilow and Michael Bilow; sister, Sharon Mobley; and niece-in-law, Tammy Bilow. Susan is survived by her son, Rick Godfrey, Jr. (India); seven grandchildren, Macy Cofer (Kevin), Landon Godfrey, Dillan Godfrey (Trinity), Lauren Godfrey, Peyton Godfrey, Zack Godfrey, and Michael Godfrey; five great-grandchildren, Nolan, Kaleb, Abigail, Landon, Jr., and Aria; brother, Tim Bilow (Lori); sister-in law, Brenda Bilow; brothers-in-law, Mike Mobley, Tim Godfrey, and Sam Godfrey; nieces and nephews, Sandy Birdsong (Brien), Shannon Bilow, India Godfrey (Rick); Stephen Bilow, Eric Bilow (Jennifer), Chris Bilow (Crystal), Hope Bilow (Tim), Laura Allison (Michael), Erica Mobley (Bubba), Kaleigh Bilow, Ryan Bilow, Michael Godfrey, Billy Godfrey, and Jason Godfrey; cousins, Hugo Gaddy (Patsy) and Lamar Gaddy, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends.

Susan was born in Macon, Georgia, to the late Bill "Bonehead" Bilow and Pat Bilow.  She grew up in the Payne City Mill Village and was the fourth of six children.  Billy, Mike, Susan, Sharon, and Tim loved each other dearly and came up thick as thieves.  When Susan was old enough to start dating, the rule was she could borrow her daddy's truck, as long her little sister and brother, Sharon and Tim, could tag along.  When their mother, Pat, passed away at an early age, Susan naturally took on the role of a mother figure to Sharon and Tim.

In January of 1981, Susan met and fell in love with her man, Rick, and she loved his two sons, Little Rick and Chad, like her own. Susan Bilow and Rick Godfrey were married December 28, 1984, and the "Bi-God" coalition was formed.  The Bilows loved and welcomed Rick, Little Rick, and Chad into the family like they were blood, and have ever since.

A hard-working woman who always held a job, Susan believed that if you couldn't go to school, you had to go to work.  Growing up, Rick and Chad missed only five days of school in six years.  She wanted that "Perfect Attendance" certificate to hang up next to all their sports trophies.

Susan was the best mother a mother could be, but she was also the best wife, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and grandma. She loved spending time with her family and the home she and Rick built at "Lake Deerwood" was headquarters for family functions for nearly thirty years. She loved going to watch her grandkids and nieces and nephews play baseball, basketball, football and cheerleading, supporting them in every way she could, and making sure they never lacked for anything.

Susan was a voracious reader and a skilled Southern cook.  She enjoyed laying out in the sun by the pool, shopping, and pampering herself with beauty routines and bubble baths.  She was elegant, beautiful, funny, and fun-loving, always ready to go do something fun and always looking her best.

Susan was extremely competitive, and if you ever played cards, bingo, or trivia with her, you knew it, because if you were not on her side, you lost!  With her partner, Brenda, Susan made sure Billy and Rick never had a chance in spades. Susan never passed up an opportunity to prove she could out-fish anyone who dared to try. She might not have admitted it, but she intentionally instigated an ongoing rivalry among her nieces and nephews over which one was her favorite.

Susan loved her career in plumbing sales, and boy, was she good at it.  She sold more high-end plumbing products in Macon, Georgia than were sold in any of the surrounding major markets, winning the "Ring of Honor" top sales award many years in a row.  Susan made a name for herself in an industry dominated by men, working alongside some of the greatest people she could call friends, including Ricky Hulett, whom she liked to remind, "I'm in sales, not solutions, Slick".  Susan was classy and relatable, and whether you were Brent Pyles or a homeowner in the mill village, she always gave her customers the best.

Her family will remember Susan as the strongest woman they knew.  She loved her family and friends fiercely, and if Susan was on your side, you had something great.  She was a fighter, and she was always the one you could turn to whether you needed a place to stay, a new outfit, help paying a light bill, or just lunch money.  For someone who wasn't a paramedic, Susan fixed a lot of problems and saved a lot of lives!

Susan put her faith in Jesus and was baptized at Bradley Baptist Church.  The saddest day of Susan's life was October 14, 2011, when her son Chad passed away, but her happiest day was December 10, 2024, when she joined him, Rick, Pat, Bill, Butchie, Billy, Mike, and Sharon in heaven.  To those she leaves behind, remember to follow her example and always fight for what you love.
