It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sue Dunbar Kinsaul, on October 1, 2025, at age 94. She was a dedicated Christian, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose life was defined by her unwavering love for her church, family and community, her generosity, and her kindness.
Sue was born in Byron, GA on October 5, 1930, to R.E. and Mary Ezell Dunbar, Sue graduated from Byron High School before attending Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. Later in life, she returned to school to earn a degree in nursing, a reflection of her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Sue found her dream job as the bookkeeper at Northside High School, where she worked for more than 20 years. Even after retiring, she continued volunteering for another two decades, joyfully selling tickets at sporting and theatrical events. Her Northside colleagues and students became an extension of her family, enriching her life in countless ways and deepening her love for the community.
A woman of faith, humor, and deep compassion, Sue delighted in simple joys: tending her garden, researching genealogy, scrapbooking family memories, and always finding the best bargains with her avid coupon collecting. She cherished her morning coffee and sausage biscuit, catching up with friends either through generous visits to her home, online, or via a phone-call, and never missed her nightly Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy.
Sue had a true gift for making others feel seen and valued. She poured her heart into her children and grandchildren, guiding them with patience and wisdom, and she welcomed friends, neighbors, and strangers with warmth and generosity. Her home was always open and her table always ready for an extra setting in the event a friend stopped by. She deeply valued the visits of friends to her home over the years, especially in the later years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.E. and Mary Dunbar; her husband, Ben T. Kinsaul; her granddaughter, Sarah Kinsaul; her sister, Aileen Colquitt; and her brother, Ed Dunbar; her brothers-n-laws, Tom Colquitt and Reggie Holleman.
She is survived by her children, Morris (Patsy) McDaniel III, Michael (Paula) Kinsaul, and Melanie (Thomas) Kinsaul Aebischer; her grandchildren, Morris McDaniel IV, Clayton Aebischer, Emily (Jordan) Kinsaul Freeman, Aileen Aebischer, and Karen (Cameron) Kinsaul; her great-grandchildren, Noelle (Sam) Stephens, Elisa (Tyler) Swain, Morris McDaniel V (Jaritzi), Isaiah Freeman, Brylee Kern and Madelyn Freeman; her great-great-grandchildren, Beckett Swain, Ashton Swain, William McLeod Stephens and Morris McDaniel VI. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Dunbar Holleman and her Sister-n-law, Barbara King Dunbar, as well as many nieces and nephews.
