Stanley K. Tanner, Jr., 89 years, of Birmingham, Alabama, originally from Macon, Georgia, passed away Thursday , September 20th, 2018. He departed four months and a day after his wife, Neva. Stanley was a former resident of Macon, Georgia, Dublin, Georgia, Jacksonville, Florida, and Oxford, Alabama. He was a graduate of Mercer University. He is preceded in death by his wife, Neva and his parents SK Tanner and Ruby Norris Tanner. Stanley is survived by his children, Jane Graham and Stan Tanner, his sister-in-law, Mary Roth, and his five grandchildren, Kyler, Kelsey, Matthew, Shelby, and Stephanie. Being a Korean war veteran, Stanley will have a graveside service with military honors on Monday, September 24th at 2:00 at Riverside Cemetery in Macon preceded by a brief visitation at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 1:00.
Stanley was especially fond of nature, weather, trees, and animals. He supported several charities such as the humane society, Salvation Army, cancer, diabetes, and cancer cure research organizations. In lieu of flowers the family requests you consider making a donation in his name to one of the organizations Stanley supported or another worthy cause.
