Shirley Mccranie

December 7, 1936 — October 2, 2021

Shirley Arlene Johnson McCranie, 84, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 and went to be with her Lord and Savior. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. McCranie was born on December 7, 1936 in Black Mountain, North Carolina to the late Robah Lee Johnson, Sr. and Edith Hedgecock Johnson. As the daughter of a Pastor, Mrs. McCranie had a strong love from the Lord at early age. She faithfully attended church throughout her entire life, if the doors to the church were open, Mrs. McCranie was there. She served as the choir director and song leader and loved southern gospel music. In addition to handling all the music for Sunday services, she was also the social director, and helped plan any event the church would be having. Mrs. McCranie married the love of her life, Willie Edward McCranie at the age of 19. Together they built a wonderful life, raising 4 children. She took great pride in making the McCranie Household a safe haven for anyone who needed it, always welcoming anyone to her kitchen table and providing a meal. One of her greatest joys in life was cooking, especially for her family. Not only did she like to cook, people loved to eat what she was cooking. No matter how short notice, she always found a way to feed whomever walked through her door. Her love for cooking lead to Mrs. McCranie having a career with the Bibb County Board of Education as a Lunchroom Manager for over 20 years. The only thing that she loved more than cooking was her family. They were truly the light of her life, and she always went out of her way to make sure they were provided for.
Mrs. McCranie was greeted in heaven by her loving husband of 47 years; Willie McCranie as well as her siblings; Marie Holdway, Helen Carter, Robah Lee Johnson. Jr., Richard Johnson and Evelyn Shook.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy is her adoring family; Her children; Charles Duane McCranie ( Gary L. McMichael), Daniel Lee McCranie (Lynn Douglas), Sherry Genthner (Scott), and Edward Keith McCranie (Dorothy). Eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
