Shirley "Louise" Long Hamilton, 68, of Lizella passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 18, 2016 surrounded by those she loved most. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 21 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1119 Sandy Point Road, Knoxville, Georgia at 3:00 p.m. Her Nephew, Pastor John Wesley Long IV will officiate. Immediately following the service burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday, May 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon, and again one hour prior to the service at Bethel United Methodist Church.
Born in Byron, Georgia to the late John Wesley Long, Jr. and Ollie Hall Long Sanders. Louise retired from Brown & Williams Tobacco Company and was a caregiver to her mother. She loved music, especially bluegrass and was known for being one of the biggest Elvis fans around. She enjoyed cookbooks and old antiques. One of her most favorite places to be was the mountains, in particular Huckleberry Mountain, Leatherman Gap, North Carolina.. But most of all Louise was known as an amazing Mom and Memaw.
Left to cherish her memory is her adoring daughter, Connie Hamilton Vaughan (Scott). Her grandson whom she loved dearly, Colby Neel Dougherty and her brother, John Wesley Long III (Denice). As well as nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
