Lizella

Sherry Causey, 77, of Lizella, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

In honoring her wishes, no services will be scheduled at this time.

Born on March 31, 1949, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, Sherry was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Milton James McElmurray and Mrs. Naomi Bryant McElmurray.

Sherry lived life with a spirited heart and a gentle soul. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially gathering around a bingo table, spending treasured time with her grandchildren, and escaping to the mountains where she found peace and comfort in the beauty of nature. She was known for being kind, loving, gentle, and fierce all at once, a woman whose strength and tenderness left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Those who loved her will forever smile remembering one of her favorite expressions, “Well Dern,” a phrase that became uniquely and unmistakably Sherry.

Above all, Sherry cherished her family. She loved deeply and gave freely, creating countless memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth McElmurray and James McElmurray; and her sister, Nelda McElmurray.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 20 years, Clifton Causey; her sons, Tony Jones, Joshua Giles, and Christopher Griffin; her daughters, Michelle (Shawn) Patterson and Kristie (Joel) Godwin; her brother, Darrell McElmurray; her sisters, Judy (Larry) McElmurray, Linda McElmurray, and Kathryn (Joe) McElmurray; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica (David), Jack (Brandi), Olivia, Jase, Kerri, Caleb, and Emanuel; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Jaxon, Aria, Michael, Jeremy, Madison, Cheyenne, Lance, Arabella, and Trysten.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the laughter she brought, and the memories she created will continue to comfort those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Sherry’s memory to a charity of your choice.
