Sharon Case

October 15, 1941 — August 11, 2023

Sharon Jan Whitcomb Case, 81, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. Family will greet friends following the service.
Born in Griffin, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Whitcomb and the late Addie Sentell Whitcomb Perry and preceded in death by a daughter, Carmen Case.
She is survived by her children, Leah Case Smith (Gerald), Veronica Case, Marnie Hudgins (Dennis), Tracey Case Harned (David), Guy Case, and Cynthia Case Shockley; Sister, Dorothy Waddell; five grandchildren (Christopher Case, Caroline McDade, Kelly Sowell, Hannah Mitchell, and Ayden Brack); nine great grandchildren (Kylla Case, Bryanna Case, Marcus Case, Keeva Case, Cody McDade, Whitley McDade, Henry McDade, Noah Sowell and Cooper Sowell). She also leaves her devoted pets Kevin and Maybelline (Kitty).
Ms. Case was a retired registered nurse with a career spanning 57 years. Beginning as a licensed undergraduate nurse she worked at several physician's offices in the middle Georgia area along with waitressing. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, she often entered and won talent contests to supplement the family's income. She returned to nursing school at Macon Junior College in 1981 earning her associates degree and becoming an RN. She received the Soroptimist International of Macon Award in 1982 in recognition of "Her Efforts to Enhance her Career Potential." She always worked more than one job and it included industrial nursing at Brown & Williamson, Allied Chemical and Graphic Packaging.
Everything she accomplished was while she was raising all of her children on her own and helping to raise grandchildren. She has helped countless people in Middle Georgia overcome addictions and restore their lives during her many years as a psychiatric nurse at Charter Lake Hospital, Coliseum Psychiatric Hospital and River Edge Behavioral Health. She was always pleased to have former patients come up to her later and share with her how they were able to recover.
She was the epitome of strength, grace, generosity and a great example to everyone who knew her.
Flowers are welcome but the option of donating to the American Cancer Society and The Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia are also appreciated.
