Mrs. Spires passed away October 10, 2014. Services will be held Sunday, October 12, 2014 at FairHaven Funeral Home, Macon, Georgia at 2:00 P.M. The family will greet friends Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 6-8pm. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Spires was born on May 16, 1921 in Alamo, GA. She had lived in Macon, GA. For 66 years and Retired from Macon Coliseum Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Parker Gillis and Lee Gay Gillis, and siblings, Buram Gillis of Orlando, FL, Ada Walker of Ft. Pierce, FL, Buddy Gillis of Dublin, GA, Randall Gillis of Brighton, MI, and James Daniel Spires the father of her children.
She is survived by five children, Melba Spires Mosley of Lizella, GA, Larry (Patsy) Spires of Valdosta, GA, Geary Spires of Valdosta, GA, Sheila Spires Owens of Roberta, GA, and Kaye Spires Jones of Lizella, GA, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, Sisters Sally (Walker) Matthews of Brownstown, MI, Mathel Gillis of Dublin, GA, Brothers Eschol (Candi) Gillis of Macon, GA, Norman Gillis of Ft. Pierce, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
