Samuel Ned Stafford, 65, of Byron passed away peacefully Monday, June 27, 2016. Funeral Services to honor his life will be held, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon with the Pastor Todd Shearin officiating. Interment will be immediately following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens where military honors will be rendered to honor Mr. Stafford's time in the United States Marine Corps. The family will have a time of visitation Wednesday June 29, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home.
Born in Macon, Georgia, Sam proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He actively served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1969 to 1970 and felt it was a great honor to have been a United States Marine. After his time in the service Sam worked at Brown and Williamson tobacco company where he worked in Supply, Fabrication, and Packing. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed fishing as well as playing softball. He loved his family dearly and was an amazing husband, father, and son.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Rodney Stafford.
Sam is survived by his wife, to whom he just celebrated 46 year of marriage, Gwen Stafford. Two daughters; Kimberly West (Glenn) and Alisha Davis (Matt), Parents; Eldridge Stafford and Henrilea Masterson. Grandchildren; Haley West, Samantha Oller, Alexis Oller, Kassie Watkins, and Leighann Davis. Brothers; Mike Stafford, Hugh Stafford, Henry Stafford, and Johnny Cranford.
