Russell Allen Gay, age 74, of Gray, Georgia, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026. Born on Friday, August 17th, 1951, in Milan, Georgia, Allen lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Allen is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy Gay. He leaves behind a legacy through his son Todd Gay and his wife Kathy, daughter Shelley Edwards and her husband Jason. His grandchildren, Logan Gay, Eric Blade, Shane Blade, Wesley Blade, and his wife Zoie, Ivey Tolbert and her husband Mason, Ava Dunlap, and Tyler and Taylor Edwards, will cherish his memory. He was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Leighton Tolbert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, John Alfred Gay and Lillie Gay, as well as his brothers, John Gay, Benny Gay, and Alton Gay, and his sisters, Christine Rogers and Mae Jones.
A retired forklift mechanic, Allen dedicated years of service to Thompson Lift Truck. In his leisure time, he indulged his love for fishing and hunting, always appreciating the serenity of nature. As an avid sports fan, he loved the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs and WWE wrestling. A passionate family man, Allen valued moments shared with his loved ones above all.
A visitation to honor Allen's life will be held on Monday, April 6th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at FairHaven Funeral Home, Macon, GA. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 am at Serenity Memorial Gardens, Lizella, Georgia, officiated by Pastor Randy Darnell.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, continuing Russell's spirit of generosity and care for others.
