Ruby Jewel Dykes Johnson, 89, Forsyth, passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loves most Thursday, June 30, 2016. Funeral Services to honor her life will be held Sunday, July 3, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon with the Reverend Raymond Steinkamp officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private Interment will take place for family only at Riverside Cemetery.
Born in Dodge County, Georgia to the late John Quincy Dykes and Nellie Jewel Dykes, Mrs. Ruby was the owner of J's Lucky Food where she worked tirelessly for years. She loved fishing and loved to sew and crochet. She was an excellent cook that always made sure that when you left her house, you never left hungry, and saw to it that you always had food to take with you. Mrs. Ruby was also an avid gardener and kept a beautiful rose garden. She was a soft spoken lady with a gentle spirit and she never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years, J.W. Johnson, and two children; Larry Johnson and Eunice Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory is her adoring family, Sons; Steve Johnson (Donna), and Randy Johnson, Grandchildren; Andrea Guthrie (Slade) and Ashley Jones (Randy). Four Great Grandchildren; Tripp Powell, Tristen Johnson, Sissy Johnson and Carmine Jones. Mrs. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her and she will be missed tremendously.
