Ruby Inez Howard, 97, of Macon, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Central Fellowship Baptist Church (8460 Hawkinsville Rd, Macon, GA 31216). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service for a time of visitation. Immediately following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of more than 40 years, W.C. Howard, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Rodney Queen will officiate all services.
Inez was born on October 30, 1928, in Eastman, Georgia to the late Hubert Pope and Mary Pope. A devoted born-again Christian, Inez lived her life as a faithful servant of the Lord, always desiring that others come to know her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life and was evident in the love and kindness she showed to everyone she met.
Music was one of Inez’s greatest joys. As a young girl, she played in her brother’s band and cherished making music with her family. In later years, she continued her love for music by singing in the church choir, as well as playing the piano and guitar. She was also gifted with her hands, enjoying sewing and crafting, and lovingly made quilts for the children in her family, treasured keepsakes that will continue to provide comfort for generations.
Inez was a longtime and devoted member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church, where she was the last original member and an active participant in the “Forever Young” class. She was known for her gentle spirit, her strength, and her unwavering kindness. Inez truly knew no enemies and never spoke a harsh word about anyone. She was a loving and hardworking woman, a wonderful mother, and an example of grace and faith to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, A.J. Pope and Sonny Pope; and her sisters, Beulah Martin, Ida Mae Howard, Mary Dukes, and Ruth.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by her children: Billy (Judy) Howard, Donny (Joyce) Howard, Ricky (Sonya) Howard, and Suellen (Tab) Bishop. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Marcus, Richard, Kelly, Lindsey, Chris, Daniel, Krystle, Kory, Bradley, Britney, Brandon, Brianna, and Brodie; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Inez’s life was a beautiful reflection of her faith, her love for her family, and her servant’s heart. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
