Robert E. Lee Smith, III, 60, of Macon, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 3.
Lee was born on May 24, 1961, in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base after 20 plus years of service. He was the ultimate athlete, from his younger years bowling, high school track team as the high jumper, and as an adult playing volleyball and softball. Lee was a phenomenal artist; loving to paint, sculpt, and dance. An avid outdoorsman, he spent much of his free time four-wheeling with the kids.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lee Smith, Jr., and sister, Cheryl Jeaneane Smith.
Lee is survived by his wife of 17 years, Christy L. Clay; mother, Sandra Kent Smith; son Robert Bryce; brother, David Kent Smith (Linda Comer); sister, Melissa Cayrn Floyd; niece, Marlesa, nephews, Marcus, David, and Joseph; and several extended family members.
