Macon

Ricky C. Hayes, 66, of Macon, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, December 10, at 12:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, with Pastor, Ashley Long officiating. Immediately following, Mr. Hayes will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Perry, Georgia. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.

Mr. Hayes was born on August 8, 1959, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Mr. Jeems F. Hayes and Mrs. Evelyn M. Hayes. Mr. Hayes was raised in Perry, Georgia and was a high school graduate of Perry High School. Due to illness, he was confined to home, but he loved to watch Church and Westerns on TV. Mr. Hayes most cherished television ministry was Sonlife Broadcasting Network, where he found great joy in worshipping his Lord and Savior, Jesus, whom he loved with all his heart. His faith was the foundation of his life and guided him in all he did.

Mr. Hayes retired with Bimbo Bakery (Colonial Bakery) as a bread man until a medical illness sidelined him. He loved to work with wood and could build just about anything. His craftsmanship reflected not only his talent, but also his patience, creativity, and dedication.

Above all, Mr. Hayes was a good and honorable man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He cherished his family deeply and took every opportunity to show his love for them.

Known for his quick wit and lighthearted nature, Mr. Hayes made the most of every moment. He was a natural jokester who delighted in bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. His joyful spirit and warm presence will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his brother, Jeems Hayes, Sr.; brother-in-law, Jerry Claxton; and his beloved fur babies, a Boxer named Jimmy and a Yorkie named Wyatt.

Left to cherish Mr. Hayes’ memory are his wife of 32 years, Cynthia “Cindy” Hayes; sons, Ricky Hayes, II (Codi), Ryan C. Hayes (Amber), and Nick Gibson (Amy); daughters, Katie Cluff (Bob), Melissa Borders (Kevin), and Ashley Long (Jonathan); 19 grandchildren; sister, Vicki Claxton; mother-in law, Eva Slappey; sisters-in-law, Debbie Mashburn and Cathy Lenderman (Raymond); and nephew, Jeems Hayes.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Georgia Hospice for the exceptional compassion, comfort, and dignity they provided to Mr. Hayes during his time of need. Their kindness and professionalism brought great peace to both him and his loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that memorial donations be made in Mr. Hayes’ honor to: We Are Living Proof, a sober living structured home, 5578 Riverside Drive, Apartment 315, Macon Georgia 31210, or at www.soberlivingrecovery.com.
