Raymond Frank Horne, Jr., 79, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025.
Born on February 3, 1946, Raymond proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force before retiring from a long and dedicated career as an engineer with CSX Railroad. He was also a proud member of the Masonic fraternity.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Delpha Lober Horne; his parents, Raymond Frank Horne, Sr. and Hattie Vincent Bunch; and his sister, Sue Horne Bishop.
He is survived by his son, Robert G. "Trae" McCombs (Mary); his cherished grandchildren, Lee and Abbey McCombs; his brother-in-law, Randy Bishop; his niece, Kelly Bishop Smith; and several great-nieces.
A man of integrity and kindness, Raymond will be remembered for his gentle nature, sharp wit, and generous spirit. He loved fishing, woodworking, and the simple joys of life. Those who knew him would agree—he was simply one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Raymond's memory.
