Raymond "Ray" Edward Hattaway, 96, of Macon, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Mikado Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Ed Chambless will officiate. The family will have a time of visitation on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. till service time in the church to remember both Mr. Hattaway and his wife, Mrs. Betty Jean Stripling Hattaway.
Born in Macon, Georgia, Ray was the son of the late Jack and Rosa Pearl Pope Hattaway. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Greene Hattaway, and a grandson, Clint Stokes.
Mr. Hattaway was an active member of Mikado Baptist Church where he attended the Matthew Sunday School Class and served as a deacon. He was a member of the Gideons International and the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Hattaway was a retired maintenance supervisor with Georgia Kraft Papermill with 37 years of service.
He was survived just 24 hours by his wife, Betty Jean Stripling Hattaway, who went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2023. Left to cherish his memory: Sharon Raymer (Larry), Allan Hattaway (Dianne), Lynn Hattaway Rozier (Joel), Steve Hattaway (Tammie), Nancy Johnson (Andy), Del Fuller (Mike), Pam Whitehurst (John), Lynn Hunnicutt (David), and Mike Hattaway, Brother, Larry Hattaway (Elizabeth), Sister, Lillian Carter, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
