Ramona Lou Duckworth

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ramona Lou Duckworth, age 86, of Macon, Georgia. Ramona was born on Saturday, October 14th, 1939, in Milan, Georgia, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8th, 2026.

A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ramona was a retired lab technician at Charleston County Memorial Hospital. She dedicated her life to the care and betterment of those she loved and the community she cherished. An animal lover through and through, Ramona's affection for all animals was well known, and she enjoyed spending time playing bingo with her friends at John Wesley Villas.

Ramona attended Rock Springs Church in Macon, Georgia, where her services will be held. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Friday, March 13th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Ramona will be laid to rest in the Cemetery of Rockwell Baptist Church 2955 Temperance Road, Milan Georgia on Saturday, March 14, 2026, 1:00 pm.

She is survived by her loving family: her son, Steve Underwood (Laura), and daughter, Donna Underwood O'Brien (Kevin). She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Helen Rutledge and Frankie Johnson (Orsin), grandchildren, Parker O'Brien and Dr. Leigh Bennett (Wade), and great-grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth, Judith, Corrie, and Andrew Bennett, as well as Kaden and Karson Underwood. Ramona will also be fondly remembered by many friends in Hendersonville and Flat Rock, North Carolina, and Macon, Georgia.

She joins her parents, William Maxwell Chambers and Mandy Lou Chambers, her husband of 42 years, William James Duckworth, and her brothers, Floyd Chambers and Max Chambers, sister, Betty Knowles, and grandsons, Cooper O’Brien and Kyle Underwood, in eternal peace.

Ramona's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
