Mrs. Pittman was born on October 28, 1934, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to the late Mr. Glynn Delashmitt, Sr. and Mrs. Hortez Epperson Johnson. She was a devoted, God-fearing daycare owner whose heart overflowed with love for children and a deep faith that guided every part of her life. A natural nurturer, Mrs. Pittman created a haven where little ones were not only cared for but cherished—each child treated as a blessing. Her love for travel reflected her boundless curiosity and appreciation for the beauty of God's creation. Whether exploring new cultures or simply taking in a scenic view, Mrs. Pittman carried a sense of wonder and gratitude wherever she went. Above all, she was the most optimistic and compassionate soul—truly a peacemaker in every sense. With a smile that could soften any tension and a heart always open to understanding, she radiated kindness and grace. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone, always choosing empathy over judgment. Mrs. Pittman's presence brought calm, her words brought healing, and her example left a lasting imprint on everyone blessed to know her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pittman was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James Lamar Pittman, Sr. "Papa James"; son, Jerry Collins; and sister, Glyndon Shirley.
Left to cherish Mrs. Pittman's memory are her children, Robert Collins (Jeni), Sherian Miller (Travis), Kim Ingle (Mitch), Jay Pittman (Bob), and Rhonda Roberts (Michael); grandchildren, Macy, Branson, Amber, Christen, Andrew, Sidney, Alex, Brent, Chandler, and Tyler; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Frost (William); brother, Glynn Delashmitt, Jr; several nieces and nephews; and many others who will remember her as Ms. Pat.
