Opal McLendon Willis, 85, of Macon passed away suddenly, Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held Friday, August 12 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon with the Reverend Dennis Clanton officiating. Immediately following the service Opal will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Born in Pike County, she was the daughter of the late L.W. Turner and Sallie Fannie Killingsworth Turner Cross. She was the widow of H.D. McLendon and George Willis. She was a hairdresser for over 50 years, and at one time she owned her own shop, Opals Beauty Shop.
She was a member of Parkway Assembly of God, and was very active in the Pairs and Spares Square dance group. Mrs. Willis loved gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Stacey McLendon (Teresa) of Lizella, Ga.; daughter, Kay Beliveau (Paul) of Macon; Sisters, Martha Ellerbee and Joanne Howell, both of Thomaston, Ga. Grandchildren, Joshua McLendon(Julie), Heather McLendon, Chase McLendon, and Michael Phillips (Donna) . Great grandchildren, Jake McLendon, Jaymi Kate McLendon, Jillian McLendon , Adam Phillips, and Noel Phillips.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family request donations be made to the Parkway Assembly of God Youth Program 5191 Eisenhower Parkway, Macon, Georgia 31206.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookhaven Memory Care for the compassionate care they gave Mrs. Willis.
