Opal Butts

September 28, 1947 — February 16, 2021

Opal Butts, 73, of Macon, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 16, 2021. The family will have a time of visitation on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at FairHaven Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Mausoleum Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Timothy Durden officiating. Entombment will be immediately following the service. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed live on Facebook at FairHaven Funeral Home-Macon.

Opal was born on September 28, 1947 in Dublin, Georgia. Throughout her life she worked in finance, working as a Credit Manager for Commercial Credit and most recently working for the Medical Center Navicent Health. She was married to the love of her life Roy Thomas Butts, for over 40 years and together they built a wonderful life. Opal was the epidemy of a true southern lady, she always had her hair and nails done, was dressed to the nines. She enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes and handbags. She never met a stranger, and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met, making instant friends with them. Opal had a love for the Lord, and was most recently a member of First Assembly of God. She loved watching God T.V. and drinking a good cup of coffee with toast. Her family was everything to her, especially her grandchildren. She had a sweet, gentle spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Opal was preceded in death by husband, Roy Thomas Butts, her son; Greg Butts, her father; William Durden and brother-in-law; Charles Hodgens.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving family. Her mother; Martha Coley Durden. Children; Rhonda Butts Meadows (Jimmy). Kim Butts Sadler (Wayne), and Shawna Butts Massey (Mike), daughter in-law Tracy Butts widow of (Greg). Grandchildren; Brendon Hampton (Karen), Brittney Bonner (Phillip), Chelsea Hampton, Jessica Huckeba (Zack), Josh Sadler (Katie), Kaley Sadler, Dylan Childers, Rylee Childers, Cody Butts, and Shelby Butts. Ten great grandchildren. Sister; Sheila Hodgens and nephew; Austin Hodgens. The family maybe contacted at the residence of Kim Sadler.
