Michael Loughran

January 26, 1949 — April 2, 2025

With profound sadness, the Loughran family announces the passing of Michael Brendan Loughran, 76, of Lizella, GA, on April 2, 2025.

Born on January 26, 1949, in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Michael devoted over 30 years to the Department of Health and Social Services before retiring in 1999, to immigrate to America to marry the love of his life.

As a passionate cyclist, he was co-founder of The Belfast Nomads Cycling Club and with them created the Tour of the Glens event in Belfast.

Michael met his wife, Sally, online in 1998 due to their mutual love for Ireland and the band Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their friendship quickly blossomed into something of fairytale proportions. When they married in March of 2000, he instantly became a proud father and grandfather, roles which he welcomed without hesitation, embracing his daughters and granddaughter with unmatched love and dedication. Michael treasured the family Sally and he created and watched it grow. This meant everything to him. To all those he held dear, he was a source of inspiration, unwavering support, and profound love. His legendary presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

He loved music, especially rock, enjoyed writing poetry and reading all types of poetry to his wife, spending time with family, telling stories of his travels around Europe with The Nomads and of course sitting outdoors with a cup of coffee. His familiar catchphrases, "Food's Food", and "Stay cool, hang loose," along with his witty sense of humor, tremendous strength and devotion will be fondly remembered.

"Michael was the youngest of our family of three brothers and one sister.  We will love and miss him always, and we are so thankful for the love and devotion he received from his dear wife Sally and all his family in Georgia."; (Gerald, Anne, and Kevin Loughran)

Michael was welcomed into heaven by his father, Peter; mother, Anna; sister, Mary; nephew, Eoin and grandson, Gavin.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 25 years, Sally; his loving daughters, Olivia (Jay) Woodie, Bethany Corson, Ashlie (Jared) Barron, and Christal (Kevin) Borck; his brothers, Gerald (Gemma) Loughran and Kevin Loughran; his sister, Anne Loughran; his grandchildren, Aleya (Chris), Sierra (Hunter), Jessica (Lance), Gracie, Madison, Rena (Trent), Zac (Autumn), Brendan, Aspen "Boss", Kaleigh, and Jackson; as well as his great-grandchildren, Levi, Declan, Jonah, Sage, Abel, Averie, Micah, Silas, and more on the way; nephew Patrick Loughran and niece Sarah (David) Watkiss and several great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fairhaven Funeral Home in Macon GA. At 6:30 PM, the family invites everyone to join them for a tribute to Michael.
