Michael Dwayne Long, 40, of Lizella, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 8, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the residence, 5029 Dixon Road, Lizella, Georgia 31052.
Michael was born on December 25, 1985, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was employed with Spectrum, where he served as a technician. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army, honorably answering the call to serve during the Iraq Campaign. Throughout his military service, he demonstrated dedication, courage, and commitment, earning numerous medals and awards in recognition of his service and sacrifice. Outside of his military accomplishments, Michael found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending quality time with his family. He loved playing games with his loved ones, enjoying video games, casting a line while fishing, and spending time on the golf course. Michael was also deeply involved in his community through Western Little League, where he generously gave his time and talents as both a coach and a member of the Board of Directors. His passion for the game and dedication to the young athletes he mentored left a lasting impression on those he served alongside. A devoted and enthusiastic supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs, Michael rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. However, of all the things that brought him happiness and pride, nothing compared to his love for his family. Above all else, Michael was a devoted husband and father who cherished his wife and children beyond measure. His family was the center of his world, and the love, devotion, and countless memories he shared with them will forever remain his greatest legacy.
Michael was preceded in death by Nana, Memaw’s, Loita Pomerleau, Memaw, Ann Carson; Papa, Norman Pomerleau; and Papa, Bill Long.
