Michael Aaron Hanke, 39, of Macon, fought a good fight and finished his course on Sunday, March 7, 2021, when he went to be with his Lord and Savior. The family will have a time of visitation to greet friends on Thursday, March 11, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Mikado Baptist Church with his good friend Reverend Rusty Smith officiating.
Michael was born on January 27, 1982, in Warner Robins, Georgia, to William R. Hanke, Jr. and Susan Moore Hanke. Michael married the love of his life Raechel Vonderharr in 2004 and together they had two wonderful children. Michael always had a strong love for the Lord and entered into ministry full time in August of 2009. It was at that time that he became associate pastor at a church in Shelby, North Carolina. In 2014 Michael moved his family to Macon, Georgia, and began working at Mikado Baptist Church. He served as the Children's Pastor, and as the Assistant to the Pastor, Rusty Smith. Michael wore many hats in life, but his greatest accomplishment came from being a father to Jackson and Olivia as well as an amazing husband. He had a true servant's heart, and found great joy in serving his church family. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and had a passion for guns of all kinds, whether it was collecting, shooting or building them. He also enjoyed playing and coaching soccer.
In addition to his wife of 16 years, his children, and his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his siblings Matthew Hanke (Tricia), Rachel Epperson (Shannon), and Lydia Tabb (Sean); his father-and-mother- in-law Robert and Marianne Vonderharr; his brothers-in-law Luke Vonderharr and Robb Vonderharr (Janelle);and his sister-in-law Vanessa Almas (Justin), as well eight nieces and five nephews and a large number of extended family members.
