Michael Hales

May 10, 1965 — September 8, 2024

Michael Earl Hales, formerly known as, Hillbilly; of Macon, Georgia passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024. The family will welcome friends to join them for a time of visitation from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM before the service. Pastor Johnny Baggett will officiate the service.

Michael was born on May 10, 1965, to the late Mr. William Earl Hales and Mrs. Sarah Sheffield. He was a devoted member and deacon of New Elim Baptist Church where he made a remarkable impact on the lives of those in the church. Michael was a man who lived life with passion and purpose. A NASCAR enthusiast, he never missed a race and could talk for hours about his favorite drivers. His collection of Hot Wheels cars reflected his love for speed, each tiny vehicle a memory in itself. When he wasn't enjoying a race, you'd likely find him by the water, fishing and soaking up the simple things in life. Michael was both nurturing and stern when necessary, always standing as a defender of those he loved. He never met a stranger, greeting everyone with a smile and his signature phrase, "Jesus loves you and so do I." He would truly give the shirt off his back for anyone he knew and loved. Music filled his heart and home, whether he was singing along to his favorite gospel track or just listening with joy. He poured love into the people around him, considering everyone family, and his kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His compassionate heart and tender spirit will be dearly missed. There is no doubt he was welcomed into Heaven shouting, "Good God Almighty!" and greeted with, "Well done, my good and faithful Servant."

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Brittney Leigh and brother in law, Ricky Spivey; brothers, Gregory Leon English and James Richard English; sister, Patricia Ann Dickerson.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy is his soulmate, Nicole Lynn; children, J.D Hales and his children, Katelan "Monkey Butt" Hales, Samantha "Sam Sam" Hales, LaLa "Fat Rat" Hales, Steve "String Bean" Norman, Jason Matthew Cannon, Blade Howard, Kayden Puello, Chris Sadler, Justin Hales, Brittany Howard and Kendra Puello; brothers, Mark (Penny) Hales and Richie (Felicia) Hales; sisters, Bunny Spivey and Samantha "Boozle" Towle (Ken); grandchildren, Salem Leigh-Ann Ledesma, Silver Leigh Stone, Carson James Hales, James Bozeman and Taylor Bozeman; nephews, Bill and AJ; and his special friends, Don and Lisa Stroup.
