Melvin Quillian Douglas, Jr., 55, of Macon, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, February 26, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, with Pastor, Eddie Coatney officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Melvin, or "Junior" as he was affectionally referred to by family, was born on June 4, 1968, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Mr. Melvin Q. Douglas, Sr. and Mrs. Eunice Marie Blackwell Douglas. He was employed with First Quality, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for 11 years. Melvin was great with his hands; there was nothing he could not fix, although small engines was his specialty. He spent much of his free time playing golf, the sport that he loved, with Justin Browning, Derrick Andrews, Tyler Coulter, Rodney Darley, and many other friends. Make no mistake, what he was most passionate about was his pride and joy, Karly. They were two peas in a pod and always together. Their fondest memories were made riding their golf cart. Melvin will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Lamar Blackwell and George Goodwin.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 32 years, Becky Andrews Douglas, daughter, Karly Douglas (Justin Browning); fur-babies, Zuri and Bandit; siblings, Debra Merritt, Bob Goodwin, Darla Shoemaker, Donna Powers, and Jada Douglas; many nieces and nephews, mother-in-law, Laverne Pittman; his First Quality family, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations be made in Melvin's honor to: Karly Douglas for her college tuition, 3217 Marie Circle, Macon, Georgia 31216.
