Melva Rose Robinson Maddox, 81, of Macon, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Funeral services to honor her life will be held on Friday, November 13, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home with Pastor, Rodney Queen officiating. Immediately following, Mrs. Maddox will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Maddox was born on September 9, 1945, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to the late Mr. Emmett Melvin Robinson and Mrs. Savannah Georgia Matson Robinson.
Mrs. Maddox earned her master’s degree from Mercer University, dedicating her professional life to the education, encouragement, and development of countless students throughout Middle Georgia. She faithfully used her knowledge, passion, and God-given gifts to make a lasting difference in the lives of her students, serving in several schools and educational systems throughout the area, including Central Fellowship Christian Academy, Windsor Academy, and both the Houston County and Bibb County School Systems. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, as she took great pride in nurturing young minds, offering guidance, and helping each child recognize their potential.
A woman of unwavering faith, Mrs. Maddox was a devoted Christian who believed deeply in the power of prayer and the importance of knowing Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her words, actions, and relationships with others. Throughout her life, she was a faithful member of several churches, most recently Shirley Hills Baptist Church, where she continued to share in the fellowship and worship that meant so much to her. She was actively involved in numerous Christian ministries, serving as a leader at Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Christian Women's Club, where she faithfully shared her love for the Lord and encouraged others in their spiritual journeys. Her commitment to ministry reflected her genuine desire to see others come to know Christ and experience the blessings of His love.
When she was not serving others, Mrs. Maddox enjoyed relaxing with her favorite classic television shows. Above all else, however, her greatest joy and most cherished calling was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured her family beyond measure. She made it her priority to ensure that those she loved were cared for, supported, and provided for, always placing their needs before her own. Her nurturing spirit, steadfast devotion, and unconditional love created a lasting foundation for her family, who will forever cherish the countless ways she touched their lives.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maddox was preceded in death by her brother, Dene Robinson.
Left to cherish Mrs. Maddox’s memory are her husband of 63 years, Ronald Ralph Maddox; children, Mark Maddox (Lois), David Maddox (Caroline), Joe Maddox (Dayna), Daniel Maddox (Deanna); grandchildren, Thomas Maddox (Lauren), Andrew Maddox (Lissy), Rachel Cole (Greg), Walker Maddox, Savannah Maddox, and Hannah Maddox; great-grandchild, Baron Cole; and a host of family and friends.
