Mary Frances McGreggor Smart, 91, of Lizella, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, at 3:00 PM in Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery with Pastor Micah Carr officiating.
Ms. Smart was born on May 26, 1930, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Henry Leonard McGreggor and Sallie Christine Royal McGreggor. She spent many Wednesdays at Perry Volunteer Outreach, where she enjoyed playing bingo. In her free time, Ms. Smart liked to bowl and square dance with the Pairs and Spares group. She was a professional dance instructor in her younger years and she and her first husband were exhibition dancers. Ms. Smart loved to play Scrabble or "Squabble" as it was affectionately called, with her late sister-in-law, Margo Prinz McGreggor. She loved her family dearly, a true caretaker as she cared for many of them that were sick and or dying over the years. Ms. Smart baby sat for two generations of her host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Ms. Smart was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Johnny Earnest Smart; son, David Michael Williams, Sr.; 11 siblings, daughter-in-law, Natasha Gordon Williams; and son-in-law, Rudy M. Jackson.
Ms. Smart is survived by her daughters, Sally Williams Jackson and Karen Denise Schofill (Randy); sons, Danny Williams, Matthew Leonard Williams, Sr. (Tricia), Glenn Richard "Dickie" Williams (Wanda); 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
