Mary Simmons, 97, passed away April 14, 2024. All services held will be private.
Mary was born on January 6, 1927, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Charles Slaughter and Bessie Carbine Slaughter. She loved her family, dearly. Mary was fiercely protective of them, always requiring a "made it home" call every time. Cooking was her "love language" she made sure nobody went hungry especially someone in need. Mary had a servants heart, and a heart of gold. She will be dearly missed.
Mary is proceeded in death by her husband of 64 years, Raymond Simmons; son-in-law, David Long, and 14 siblings.
She is survived by her loving children, Sheila Long, Wanda (Lenny) Rutherford, Rayna (James) Pruett, Theresa (Paul) Braun, Raymond (Andrea) Simmons, and Danny (Kim) Simmons; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She especially loved Sylvia and her family, bringing flowers and sweets to brighten her day.
