Mary Sue McCarty Dye, 85, of Macon, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026. The family will have a time of visitation on Tuesday, June 23, at 12:00 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home. Immediately followed by a graveside celebration of Ms. Dye’s life at 1:30 PM at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Dye was born on November 30, 1940, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Mr. James J. McCarty. Sr. and Mrs. Mary Frances Watts McCarty. A proud member of the Miller High School Class of 1958, Ms. Dye valued education and lifelong learning. Following her graduation, she built a career marked by dedication, professionalism, and service to others. She was employed for a number of years as an administrative assistant at Mulberry United Methodist Church, where her organizational skills, warm personality, and commitment to the church community made her a valued member of the staff. She also worked for CIGNA Insurance, where she was respected by colleagues for her reliability and strong work ethic.

In her leisure time, Ms. Dye found great joy in reading and could often be found with a good book in hand. An avid reader throughout her life, she cherished opportunities to learn, reflect, and escape into the pages of her favorite stories. In her younger years, she especially enjoyed traveling to the beach, where she delighted in the beauty of the ocean, the warmth of the sunshine, and creating treasured memories with family and friends. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 plus years, Eugene Frey Dye; daughter, Amy Harmon; son, Eddie McKinney; and brother, James J. McCarty, Jr.

Left to cherish Mrs. Dye’s memory are her son, Randy McKinney (Carolyn); grandchildren, Brent McKinney, Jared McKinney, Nick McKinney, Megan Linfernal, and Katie Baum; five great-grandchildren, sister, Patsy McCarty; brothers, Donnie McCarty (Janice), Butch McCarty (Vickie), Steve McCarty (Diane), and Dean McCarty; and numerous extended family members.
