Marshall Ray Byrd, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon following complications from surgery.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Merle Byrd; his daughters, Sharon Wolfe (John), Tammy Fletcher (Kevin), and Lisa Curl (Todd); his son, Shawn Byrd (Christa); his brothers, Leon Byrd (Irene) and Rex Byrd (Maggie); as well as ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Marshall was born September 12, 1941 in Griffin to Roy A. Byrd and Clara Bell Driver Byrd. He served his country bravely in the United States Air Force before working for 21 years as Director of Accounts Payable at Charter Medical.
Marshall was a devoted member at 2nd Street United Methodist Church, and Wesley United Methodist Church in Macon for 75 years where he sang in the choir. He had a passion for country and gospel music which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Denise Byrd; his parents, Roy and Clara Byrd; his sister, Eileen McBride; and brothers, Roy and Alton Byrd.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church - 4256 Hartley Bridge Rd. Visitation will begin that same day at 10:00 a.m. He will be entombed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum following the service .
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marshall's honor to Wesley United Methodist Church.
