Marie Graham Harris, 93, of Macon, Georgia entered Heaven on Sunday, December 15, 2024. The family invites friends to join them for a time of visitation on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Immediately following the visitation, a graveside service will be held in the church cemetery. Pastor Micah Carr will officiate.
Marie was born on October 11, 1931, in Macon, Georgia to the late Mr. Steelie Monroe Graham and Mrs. Annie Bell Willingham. She was a devoted member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she dedicated much of her time serving. She was an avid volunteer for the Vacation Bible Schools, a Sunday school teacher and spent countless hours praying for everyone. Marie was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, faith, and kindness. Every week, she visited nursing homes, spreading the love of God through heartfelt songs and devotionals, bringing comfort and joy to those in need. At home, she was a true homemaker, creating a warm and inviting environment for her family and anyone who came by. Marie was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious meals, and she sewed clothes for her children, lovingly crafting each outfit until they outgrew them. Her home was always a place of refuge, offering a sense of belonging and peace to all who entered. Her unwavering generosity and selflessness made her a truly remarkable woman.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jackson "S.J." Harris; children, Marcus Daniel Harris, James Samuel Harris, and Nancy Sue Howard; brother, James Monroe Graham; sister, Patricia Graham McCarthy.
Left to cherish the memories made with her is her daughter, Melanie Harris Grayson; sisters, Debbie Hunnicutt, and Loretta Walker; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and eight great- great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their immense gratitude to her niece, Patricia Touhy and Dylanda "Honey" Young. They took incredible care of Ms. Marie, and she will reside in their hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that if you wish, to make donations in Ms. Marie's honor to the Gideons International or Pine Pointe Hospice.
