Margaret Evelyn Matthews

Margaret Evelyn Matthews, 97, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2025, 11:00am in the Chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home in Macon, Georgia. She will be laid to rest next to her husband of 70 years, Albert Matthews, in the Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Road in Stockbridge, Georgia. The family will receive friends at FairHaven Funeral Home, Friday, November 7, from 10:00am until 11:00am, one hour prior to the service. Chaplain Eddie Coatney will officiate.

Margaret was born in Macon, Georgia on January 4, 1928, to the late Roy Mote and Margaret Jones. She was a dedicated employee of the Federal Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division for over 30 years in Atlanta, Georgia. Margaret’s family was everything to her. She was most happy when she was spending time with family and making memories that will be cherished forever.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret is preceded in death by her son, John Henry Emore; daughter, Sandra Wood; brother, Kenneth Allen Mote, Sr.; and great grandson, T.J. Freeland.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah Matthews Hale; sister, Ginger Hulett; grandchildren,  Lori Lineberry (Tim), Tony Freeland (Kim), Tina Earls (Brian), J.J. Reynolds (Julie), Johnny Emore, Tracey Emore (Richie), Julie Chloupek (Bernie); 21 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; and best friend Tim Watkins, and a host of many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
