Mamie Coleman Biggerstaff, 85, of Macon Georgia, passed peacefully at her home in the company of loving family during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 1, 2018.
A celebration of life with the Reverend Loran Smith officiating is scheduled for Thursday, July 5, 2018, at FairHaven Funeral Home chapel. Visitation commences at 1:00 PM with the service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Graveside ceremony will follow at Macon Memorial Park.
Mamie was born in Rhine, Telfair County, Georgia on March 27, 1933 to William and Lula Williams Coleman. A child of the depression, she believed in hard work, thrift and the unbreakable bonds of family. Mamie worked in data processing in the early years of the computer era but spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her large extended family. Mamie was known for her sweet disposition, gentle manner and her love for family and friends. She raised her children to be responsible productive Americans.
Mrs. Biggerstaff was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Charles E. Biggerstaff, her parents, son Craig (Tony) Bryant, sister Rozelle Coleman, seven brothers: Raymond, Charlie, Melton, Herman, Billy, Marvin and Arthur Coleman. Left to cherish her memory are sons Keith Bryant of Macon, Lewis Powell (Tina) of Newport News VA, daughter Suzanne Dixon (Terry) of Macon, sister Sylvia Young of Dacula, and nine grandchilden.
Mamie spent her last year living at Brookdale Alzheimer's and Dementia Center where she enjoyed her friends, activities and delicious meals. A BIG thank you to the staff of Brookdale for their excellent and loving care.
