Mahala Morris Edwards; 76, longtime resident of Morrow, GA, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014. Funeral services, led by Dr. Ed Judy, will be held Saturday, November 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon, GA. Burial will follow in GlenHaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gladys Wells and E. C. Morris, Jr.; sisters, Nell Everly and Faye Moss; brother-in-law, Harold Moss, Jr.; nephew, Michael Moss; and great-niece, Alesa Somers.
Mahala loved sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening and reading, but was always there when a friend or family member needed her. She was a secretary for the Department of the Army, and after her retirement volunteered for many years as an AARP Tax Preparer. She was a member of the Morrow First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her brother, Phillip (Jene) Morris; brother-in-law, Ben Everly; nieces, Lexa Harris, Debra Moss, Belinda Somers, Darlene Fair, and Tina Henderson; nephews, Scott Everly and Darrell Morris; 18 great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Morrow First United Methodist Church, POB 143, Morrow, GA 30260; Alzheimer's Association; or American Cancer Society.
