Lynn Anne Halstead Stokes, 79, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Funeral services to honor her life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. The family invites friends to join them one hour prior to the service for a time of visitation. Immediately following, Mrs. Stokes will be laid to rest next to her husband Pete, in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Lee Griffin will officiate the services.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Americus, Georgia on May 30, 1945, to the late Mr. Carl Lynn Halstead and Mrs. Bettye Anne Benford. She was the owner and operator of Dolls by Lynn where she devoted much of her time and creativity. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the War of 1812, and the Daughters of Founders and Patriots. For many years, she was the treasurer of the Fort Hawkins Commission until they later created the Fort Hawkins Foundation Board where she continued her roll as treasurer. Lynn always ensured the ones around her remained fed and happy. Her passionate heart, kind spirit, and talented ways will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Pete Stokes.
Left to cherish her memory is her children, sons, Carlton Lee Stokes (Gina) and David Kendall Stokes (Laura); granddaughter, Meghan Leigh Stokes; grandson, Christopher Todd Foster; sisters, Echo Halstead Burrell and Jim Halstead Griffin; sister in law, Patricia Touhy and many extended family members.
