Mattie Lucile Oglesbee Harrell, 91, of Macon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Funeral services to honor her life will be held on Wednesday, March 13, at 11:00 AM at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, with Pastor, Phil Skelton and Dr. Brad Marchman, officiating. Immediately following the service, Mrs. Harrell will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Harrell was born on May 12, 1932, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Mr. Edward Lavert Oglesbee and Mrs. Alberta Boyd Oglesbee. She was a member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church and heavily involved with her Sunday school class. Mrs. Harrell, along with her husband, Ira, were the owner/operators of George's Auto Radio Service.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrell was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ira C. Harrell and stepdaughter, Karen Elaine Lindesmith.
Left to cherish Mrs. Harrell's memory are her stepchildren, Carla Wagner and Robin Vadasz (Richard); grandchildren, Tony Whitten (Sara), Jason Lindesmith, and Matthew Lindesmith; great-grandchildren, Abigail Whitten and Wiley Whitten; son-in-law, John Lindesmith; and siblings, Donald Poteat (Cindy), Reginald Poteat (Pat), Carol Poteat Queen, Patricia Poteat Braid (Ed), Jerry Oglesbee (Sandra), and Sam (Kim) Oglesbee.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations be made in Mrs. Harrell's honor to: Lawrence Drive Baptist Church, 5774 School Road, Macon, Georgia 31216.
