Lowery Woodell, 80, of Macon, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Jeffersonville, GA, on March 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Oma Sheppard Woodell and the late Melyear "Sam" Woodell. He attended New Haven Baptist Church. He was an excellent golfer, and was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Graphic Packaging in 2007 after 42 years. In recent years, one of his favorite pastimes was singing karaoke with a group of his closest friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Haynes Woodell; his sisters, Nancy Locklear, Diana Bruce, and Kate Fowler; and his brother, Merlin Woodell. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Stokes Woodell; daughter, Allison (Chad) Griffin; granddaughters, Meg and Molly Griffin; sister, Nina W. Hawkins; brothers, Melyear Woodell and Wayne Woodell; and stepson; Marcus (Teri) Parker.
Arrangements: There will be a visiation at FairHaven Funeral Home at 4989 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd. on Monday, November 22nd from 6-8pm. The memorial service will be graveside at Macon Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 23, at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Macon Rescue Mission or New Haven Baptist Church.
