Lily Richbourg Joyner passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023, at the age of 95. Lily was born in 1928, the year Herbert Hoover was elected president, penicillin was discovered, an airplane first made a trans-Pacific flight, and the first American television stations began broadcasting.
Lily lived her beautifully long life primarily in Macon, Georgia, with her husband, the late James David Joyner, Sr. They were married over 60 years. Lily and David raised their two children, James David Joyner, Jr. ("Jimmy") and, Gina Brown, in Middle Georgia. Jimmy is the senior-most mail carrier in Macon and Gina recently retired from the Masonic Children's Home.
Lily is survived in life by her two children, Jimmy (beloved daughter-in-law, Trina) (Trina) and Gina (Danny) (Danny) her brother, John L. Richbourg, her sister, Deanne Jenkins, her grandchildren, Lindsey Williams (Rusty), Ashley Buttigieg (Dustin) and Jonathan Joyner (Ashleigh), and her great-grandchildren, Maison Williams, Leigha Amos, Phin Childs, Asa Buttigieg, Cody Williams, Zane Buttigieg, Phin Childs, and Jett Joyner.
Lily lived a life that truly spanned the ages. Lily witnessed so many changes in the world, saw life improved and sometimes complicated by inventions, and she touched so many people's lives throughout her years on earth with her kindness, grace, friendship and love. Despite all the changes Lily saw in her life, the one constant was Lily's uncompromising devotion to her family. When asked once why she had helped a member of her family, she simply laughed and replied "Because that's what family does." Lily will be dearly missed by her friends and family, however she will be remembered most fondly and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those many, many, many people whose lives she touched. Lily is now in a much better place, with eyes that see clearly again, limbs that know nothing of aches, legs that move her about swiftly, and a heart filled to the brim with the love of Jesus.
Lily's family will host a get together for family and friends on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the home of Jimmy and Trina Joyner, 319 S. Wood Drive, Byron, Georgia.
