Lenora David

March 3, 1923 — June 2, 2017

Lenora M. David was born March 3, 1923, at Scio, Ohio to John J. Scott and Inez Pfouts Scott and went to be with our Lord on June 2, 2017. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, 4989 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Macon.

Beloved wife and mother, she was married to Clayton C. David on February 11, 1945 at Scio, Ohio. Lenora was a 1944 graduate of Ohio State University and taught school at Greeneville, Tennessee, Salt Lake City, Utah and Neosho, Missouri, where she was awarded "Outstanding Special Education Teacher" in Missouri for 1973 Pointer Magazine. She had a great interest in youth and her own education that would assist in their development. She took graduate courses at Brigham Young University, Missouri Southern College, School of The Ozarks, and Ohio University. In addition to conducting motivational seminars for teachers, she coordinated "Wider Opportunities for Women" programs and seminars for West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling, WV. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Who's Who of American Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Mark Twain Boyhood Home Association.

In the last 35 years, "Scotty" has volunteered tens of thousands of hours to researching the MIA Pilots and Aircrew members who evaded enemies to return to their military units during World War II and since. To promote Air Force Escape and Evasion Society, she has assembled more than 24 newspaper size scrapbooks of history and records of national and international events. Her efforts helped bring more than 2000 Allied flyers together with crew members and hundreds of brave men and women in Europe, who risked their lives, to help the downed flyers evade the enemy. Inspired by her husband's World War II experiences, she left a legacy of deeds that historically will live forever electronically and in books. Her efforts have preserved many documents and personal stories otherwise would have been lost.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn A David of St. Louis, Missouri and James S. David(Debbie) of Macon, Ga. Grandson, Jonathan David(Sasha) of Springfield, Missouri, Granddaughters, Sarah Rosalie David and Nora Grace David of Macon, Ga. great granddaughter, Elliana Marie David of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, James A Scott of Niles, Ohio, and Dr. Carl Scott of Columbus, Ohio.
