Lawrence Sasser Minshew, 85, of Fort Valley, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 9, 2023. A graveside service with military honors to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Avondale Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Donald Minshew officiating.
Mr. Minshew was born on April 8, 1938, in Byron, Georgia to the late Maultie and Lessie Minshew. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and went on to have a lengthy and impressive career as a Aircraft Mechanic at Robins Air Force Base before retirement. In his free time, Mr. Minshew loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and the Falcons, as well as NASCAR races. He also enjoyed spending time outside, gardening and fishing. Mr. Minshew was a member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church.
Mr. Minshew was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings; Edward Minshew, Henry Minshew and Dick Minshew.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years; Sue Byars Minshew, Children; Kenny L. Minshew and Amy Minshew Miller (Brian). Grandchildren; Kendall Minshew and Taylor Goodenow (Casey) and sister in law; Nancy Minshew of Cordova, TN, and several loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that donations please be made in Mr. Minshews honor to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
