Lavenia Blume Smith, 76, of Macon, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 8, 2024. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, March 13, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of FairHaven Funeral Home, with Pastor, Eddie Coatney officiating. Immediately following, Mrs. Smith will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
Mrs. Smith was born on October 15, 1947, in Olar, South Carolina, to the late Mr. William P. Blume and Mrs. Margaret Collins Blume. She was a member of Springtown Baptist Church in Bamberg, South Carolina and retired from Gibson Greeting Cards, where she worked as a merchandiser. Although Mrs. Smith made the move to Georgia, in the late 70's, at heart, she still considered herself a "Carolina Girl." She spent much of her free time dining out, traveling, and camping. Some of Mrs. Smith's most favorite trips were to Edisto Beach, South Carolina. Above all else, she was a wonderful caretaker, who loved her family. Mrs. Smith's legacy will always be remembered and will live on through the ones that called her "Mama" and "Mema."
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Buster Lee "Bill" Smith and brother, James G. Blume.
Left to cherish Mrs. Smith's memory are her children, Christa Shepherd (Tripp), Gina Hattaway, and Bobby Beck (Joni); grandchildren, Payton (Chase), Avery, Olivia, Bailey (Mark), Hunter (Tyler), Eric (Aimee), Bethany (Tim), and Sam; great-grandchildren, Jersey, Josie, Ellory, Emory, Everett, Lilianna, and Aaron; two blessings on the way, Hayden Tate and Sunny Caroline; sister, Deborah Gunter; and brother, Jerri Blume.
The family would like to give thanks to Mrs. Smith's "good buddies" for their special friendships, that meant so much to her.
