Larry Edward Stephens, 76, of Macon, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home. The family will have a time of visitation from 1:00 pm till 2 pm in the funeral home.
Born in Macon, he was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Alexander Stephens and Myrtie May Shackelford, and sister, Peggy Janie Stephens Fincher. Mr. Stephens was a graduate of Lanier High School and a member of Mabel White Baptist Church. He was employed with the IBEW #1316 for 43 years and 18 of that he served as President of the Union.
In his free time, he bowled for 50 years and won many awards through the years, including 6 City Tournaments and would travel with his friends to various states for tournaments. He also enjoyed golf for many years, leading him to play for three or four days a week and fishing with his best buddy, Larry Barfield on Lake Sinclair. Larry was a wonderful gardener and shared his abundance of vegetables with his friends as well.
Larry volunteered with the Georgia State Fair, setting up booths and working at the Cherry Blossom Festival. He assisted the AT&T Telephone Pioneers with various projects.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Jackson Stephens, Children, Brad Stephens (Sherrie), and Mark Stephens (Jane); sister, Lucy Grant (Larry), Grandchildren, Hannah Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Zach Cox and Hannah Cox; and former spouse, Teresa Landino.
